Welcome! My name is Alex Clark and I am about to embark upon a 12 month journey to Masealama, Limpopo, South Africa. This experience came to me through the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program. I graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa this past May, and will be headed to South Africa this August of 2012. I have no idea what the next step will be after this year, so I have little control over where this journey will take my life.

This is the first post in a blog I will be keeping over the year. I am quite new at this whole blogging on the internet, and for that matter, reflecting on my life through writing. Bear with me. Hopefully this can be a lighthearted space for me to think about what I am going through while in Masealama.

Masealama is a small village in the province of Limpopo, which is in the northeast of South Africa. Though, if you ask me to point Masealama out on a map I probably would lead you in the wrong direction. To my knowledge, Masealama is a village of only a couple thousand people. From what I hear, the people there are very tight in community with one-another. I am excited to join the community life there come September.

All are welcome with me on this journey…the more the merrier! There may be many new experiences for me throughout this year, which may bring about a wide assortment of emotional, spiritual, and physical feelings.

I will try to be as honest in this space as best I can.  Also, I will try to update as much as possible, but due to limited internet access that may not always be a possibility. Cheers!
