This past Monday, September 28 was Heritage Day in South Africa. What is Heritage Day you may ask? Well, Heritage Day is the celebration of the cultural diversity found all throughout this great nation. With around 49 million people and 11 national languages, there is a lot to celebrate!
The children of Masealama, through the Masealama Youth Development Center performed at the Bjatladi Youth Development “Youth Festival of Arts and Music”. And what a fine celebration and showcase of cultural pride it was. Most of the people in this area speak Sepedi and come from that same associated cultural group. I hope you all enjoy these pictures from the festival. Other pictures also include a Gospel Festival hosted by the Mphome Circuit from this past Saturday. Check it out!
Alex, Thank you for the story and photos. Good to see you and your new friends.
We think of you everyday and hope you are healthy and happy.
Love,
Mom and Dad
Alex, thank you for your honesty about feeling helpless and frustrated. That is all part of the experience. It took me right back to our time in Africa when we felt so alone sometimes and also so welcomed and accepted. You will give alot to the children and people you meet and you will receive many times over. Remember that just as you will rely on the grace extended to you; you will also need to practice grace with yourself! Take good care.
Love,
Susan

Of course we miss you very much, but I know you are doing what God has planned for you, and you want to be there to do this work. God Bless You and Keep You each day, Love, Grandma
